Wirral has a strong sporting history and welcomes hundreds of sporting fans of all ages every year.

Wirral has a large variety of private and municipal golf courses and is a favourite golfing break destination for golfers from all over the world. The borough has hosted the Open Championship on various occasions, including in 2014 and 2023.

While over the Mersey in Liverpool you’ll find Liverpool FC and Everton FC, in Wirral you’ll find Tranmere Rovers.

Wirral Rugby Club and Wirral Cricket Club also both have a full fixture of matches throughout the season.
