Explore Wirral’s Breathtaking Beaches
Located along the peninsula, Wirral’s many beaches are a thing of beauty.
Perfect for everything from a family day out to a peaceful weekend stroll, they offer the ideal chance to catch the sunset or see various wildlife in their natural environment.
West Kirby beach may be just 300 metres long but there’s plenty to see and do here including watersports, sand dunes and at low tide you can walk out to Hilbre Island Nature Reserve.
Another great beach for nature lovers is Red Rocks beach where migrant birds including Redwing, Chaffinch, Snow Bunting and Willow Warble can all sometimes be spotted.
Both New Brighton beach and Leasowe are also home to lighthouses, with the latter being home to the oldest brick lighthouse in the UK. Thurstaston Beach meanwhile is located on the Dee Estuary and is overlooked by Thurstaston Common and the Wirral Country Park.
Four of Wirral’s beaches have also previously received the highest “Excellent” rating for water quality from the Good Beach Guide while Wallasey Beach is rated as a Blue Flag beach.
When visiting Wirral’s beaches please be respectful of wildlife and others in the area. Please do not leave litter and remember to check tides and do not bathe on non-bathing beaches.
