The 20th edition of the Independents Biennial
The Independents Biennial 2025 is an artist-led contemporary art festival taking place across the Liverpool City Region—including Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton, Halton, Knowsley, and St Helens—from 7 June to 14 September 2025.
Celebrating its 20th year, the festival showcases over 200 artists and more than 250 new works, emphasising grassroots and emerging talent .
Some of Wirral’s most recognisable landmarks and beautiful locations will be home to art, including Fort Perch Rock, Hilbre Island, Bidston Observatory, Port Sunlight, Victoria Road in New Brighton, Williamson Art Gallery, Mersey Ferries, Dibbinsdale Nature Reserve and Hamilton Square.
The festival will give art-lovers the chance to see newly commissioned art and sculptures, while enjoying some of the most picturesque corners of Wirral. Across the Liverpool City Region, there will be 22 brand new artistic commissions, as well as new work from 64 of the most talented local artists.
