The shores of Wirral peninsula have been transformed on screen, with locations across the borough used as filming locations for major films and TV shows.
If you fancy catching a glimpse of Wirral on screen then below we’ve put together a list of the blockbuster movies and popular TV series that have been filmed in Wirral.
Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders may be set on the streets of Birmingham but much of the hit show was filmed in Liverpool City Region.
The house used as Aunt Polly’s can actually be found in Port Sunlight, the chocolate-box village in Wirral.

Chariots of Fire
The classic film starring Nigel Havers was filmed at various locations in Wirral.
You can spot Woodside Ferry Terminal on screen as well as Bebington Oval which was used in the iconic race scenes.
Florence Foster Jenkins
The Hollywood blockbuster Florence Foster Jenkins starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant may have been set on the glittering streets of New York, but much of the film was actually filmed right here in Wirral at New Brighton.
The Almond and the Seahorse
Rebel Wilson spent plenty of time in Wirral when she filmed The Almond and the Seahorse, with various locations across the borough featured in the film.
Rockpoint Records in New Brighton, Ashton House in Oxton and Red Rocks in Hoylake can all be spotted in the film.
Such Brave Girls
Wirral locations including Lingham’s Bookshop in Heswall appeared in Bafta-winning comedy series Such Brave Girls, a BBC show filmed across Wirral and Liverpool in 2023.

G’wed
Scouse comedy G’wed was a hit when it aired in 2024 and as you would expect, the show was filmed across Wirral, Liverpool and Sefton.
Wirral locations you can see in episodes include Birkenhead Park, Oxton Village and Beechwood Social Club.
Liverpool City Region has some of the most unique filming locations in the country.
As the first established Film Office in Europe, Liverpool Film Office is responsible for bringing film and TV production to the Liverpool City Region, their work has resulted in Liverpool becoming the second most filmed UK city outside of London.
