Boat Trips at Wirral Sailing Centre

Wirral Sailing Centre also offers boat trips which explore the beautiful Dee Estuary. See the Hilbre Islands from a different perspective and enjoy the wildlife in its natural environment. Although sightings are not guaranteed, you are likely to see Atlantic Grey Seals, which are quite inquisitive and often pop up to swim around the boat! The estuary is also a haven for bird-life with large numbers of Dunlin, Knot, and Oyster Catchers creating a wonderful spectacle. Don’t forget your camera!

2 Hour Hilbre Explorer 

The Hilbre Explorer is a two hour trip that gives you the opportunity to learn more about the islands of Hilbre. The islands are a designated Local Nature Reserve and you may see a variety of wildlife including Atlantic Grey Seals, Harbour Porpoise and a wide range of bird-life. If time permits, the trip may also include a visit to Thurstaston, further down the estuary.

Group Bookings

Why not get a group of people together for your own individual trip? Ideal for parties with a particular interest (such as bird- watchers, for example) group bookings are based on hire of the whole boat, which seats up to 8 people.

2 Hour Trip: £250.00

The boat is a 6.3m RIB (rigid inflatable boat), licensed by the Maritime Coastguard Agency, and carries full life-saving equipment. The friendly, fully trained drivers can provide you with lots of local information. Wirral Sailing Centre operates within the mouth of the Dee Estuary and the trips do not venture out to the open sea. As trips are scheduled according to the tide, departure times vary.
All trips are weather dependent and will operate at the discretion of the Centre.
Please be aware that the boat is open to the elements; and you are advised to bring warm layers and waterproofs!
Please arrive at the Wirral Sailing Centre 30 minutes before your departure, as there will be a short walk (approx 15 minutes) to the boat, and a safety briefing.

Unfortunately we are unable to take children under the age of 8 years.
No more than 2 children under the age of 14 may accompany 1 adult.

Wirral Sailing Centre reserves the right to cancel any trip if weather/sea conditions are unfavourable. If we cancel your trip you will be entitled to either a full refund, or a choice of alternative dates.
