River of Light Wirral

Wirral’s waterfront will be filled with an explosion of light, colour and sound on Sunday 4 November, as fireworks extravaganza River of Light returns to New Brighton and Liverpool. The spectacular event will be the highlight of a weekend of displays taking place across the borough to celebrate Bonfire Night.

New Brighton is the place to be for the free dazzling display which will light up the skies above Fort Perch Rock and the lighthouse. Having wowed the tens of thousands of people who came to last year’s event, Titanium Fireworks have created another breathtaking visual and musical spectacle inspired by this year’s theme ‘The Elements’. The team are behind some of the UK’s biggest displays such as the Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve party and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.

River of Light is the finale for the Imagine Wirral year of culture, creativity and ideas and Liverpool’s China Dream season.

The display starts at approximately 6.30pm, with plenty of exciting family entertainment to enjoy from 5pm on both sides of the Mersey. In New Brighton, this will include the appearance of ghostly pirates on the Black Pearl, an amazing drumming and dance performance, and the chance to meet incredible illuminated characters.

•Wallasey: Central Park

Monday 5 November – all displays start at 6.30pm

Wirral Council leader Phil Davies says: “We are delighted to be presenting fireworks displays across the borough this year, including the return of the incredible River of Light.

“We’re giving Wirral residents and visitors the opportunity to experience a world-class display with some fantastic family entertainment in New Brighton, as well as great displays in their local area.

“As we celebrate the end of our Imagine Wirral year which has provided some truly memorable moments we’re also looking ahead to becoming Borough of Culture for Liverpool City Region in 2019. We’re sure that River of Light will set the stage for another incredible year of major events.”

River of Light is organised by Wirral Council in partnership with Liverpool City Council, with support from Royal Liver Building 360. More information can be found at www.riveroflightfireworks.co.uk and by following @ImagineWirral on Twitter and Culture Liverpool on Facebook and Twitter.
