Summer is finally here and what better way to celebrate Wirral’s creative talents but with a number of art events for people to visit.
Kicking off the art-fest is ‘de-junk, re-junk’ at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead with 35 artists displaying their work made from recycled items. The exhibition opened on Saturday and runs until July 7.
Artist Alison Bailey Smith said: “This is the third year of de-junk, re-junk and it is aimed at getting everyone to recycle more.
“Most of what would normally be tossed in to our green and grey bins can be recycled in some way.
“We hope the exhibition will prompt local businesses to start seeing their waste as a commodity rather than a problem.”
Moreton Art Group is holding an art exhibition at the Visitors Centre in Birkenhead Park until Friday, June 14.
There will be a wide selection of work on display to purchase.
Admission is free and opening times are 9am until 4pm each day.
Don’t forget Wirral Open Studio returns this weekend (June 15 and 16).
The popular arts trail of sculptors, painters, designers and potters will be opening their studio doors to show their artwork to the public.
A map shows a trail of all the venues with information about the artists. This can be picked up from libraries and shops across Wirral, or download one at www.wirralart.com
Meanwhile Deeside Art Group are preparing for their 66th annual exhibition which opens later this month.
It attracts over 400 works by Wirral artists with a wide choice of subjects for sale.
This starts on Saturday, June 29 until Saturday, July 6 at the Westbourne Hall on Westbourne Road, West Kirby. Open every day and admission is free.
