The Jug & Bottle Restaurant goes back to basics

21st May 2013

Categories: News

Delicious wholesome British food, great British beers and a fantastic selection of world wines!

The Jug and Bottle has always and will always be a part of Heswall’s heritage…from when it was the ‘Hill House hotel’ over 30 years ago to the ‘Jug and Bottle’ pub and guest house that stands there today. Nestled away from the hustle of bustle of Heswall, “the Jug” as it is affectionately known by the locals sits up at the top of Mount Avenue in its own tranquil gardens with views overlooking the hills of North Wales.
The Jug and Bottle has recently undergone a transformation to take the establishment back to basics as a traditional local pub offering a fantastic selection of the very best local ales and wines. The kitchen will be serving the very best of fresh British food sourced from the finest local producers ensuring the highest of quality in every dish.
With the recent arrival of a new manager, Steve Guile in October 2012 the Jug has blossomed into a pub recognised for its charm, character and personality. He is a local man, born in Heswall who has spent the last eleven years in the pub trade growing his knowledge and career. “Growing up in Heswall meant that the Jug was my local and I just want to bring back a local traditional inn serving quality beers and quality homemade British food to the town.”
The Jug’s doors have been closed for since the beginning of April whilst the transformation has taken place. Steve has said that he is “set on keeping the quirky and timely feel to the building and if anything, taking the pub back in time to give it a homely atmosphere in cosy and welcoming surroundings.” The doors will open Thursday 23rd May at 12.00pm.
The pub also boasts six spacious guest rooms that have all recently been refurbished in the last 12 months, offering a home away from home in the heart of Heswall. All of the rooms are en-suite, bright and airy and enjoy lovely views over the gardens, to north Wales or to the skyline of Liverpool.
The new-look Jug and Bottle offers the perfect respite with its secluded surroundings, large car park, relaxing guest rooms, homely lounge bar and fantastic homemade menu… just what Heswall has been waiting for.
