Wilfred Owen - Christchurch Remembered
26th June 2012
Categories: News
The Wilfred Owen Story presents a celebration in words and music of Owen’s time spent at the iconic Christ Church in Oxton, Birkenhead. In 1902, Wilfred attended Sunday School here, and later became a member of the choir. His father Tom, who worked at Woodside, was also a church warden.
This historic event will feature music that was contemporary to Wilfred's time at the Church, including some not heard since the Owens were part of the congregation over 100 years ago. Resident organist Paul Broadhurst and songwriter Dean Johnson have created the piece entitled Wilfred Owen — Christchurch Remembered. Special guest, Wirral actor Christopher Lee Power, will narrate and read some of the poet’s best known work. The evening is to be recorded for a forthcoming Charity CD.
