Dastardly pirates took to the highs seas - and the River Mersey - for the International Mersey Pirate Muster in New Brighton.
Hundreds of families celebrated Father’s Day yesterday by witnessing the maritime battles at first hand.
Crowds enjoyed the brighter weather at the waterfront and at the beach and enjoyed a whole host of maritime merriment including the Battle of the Last Chance Lagoon.
Cathy Roberts, the event organiser, told the Echo the turnout for the muster was much bigger than in previous years.
She said: “We had a fantastic afternoon at New Brighton with cannon and explosions galore and lots of different activities.
