The Lawns restaurant launches ‘The Great Wirral Afternoon Tea’ for the Festive season

The Lawns restaurant at Thornton Hall Hotel is launching a new innovative Great Wirral Afternoon Tea menu offering a vast selection of exciting original flavoured loose leaf teas and homemade preserves.

The menu – available from December 1 – has been created by executive chef David Gillmore and is accompanied by a wide selection of thirteen unique loose leaf teas including chocolate orange truffle and wild blossom and berries. The Afternoon Tea can also be upgraded to the luxury Champagne Package for the ultimate pre-Christmas treat.

The menu consists of a range of finger sandwiches such as smoked Wirral pork loin and bramley apples. The second tier is a selection of mouth-watering cakes, from lemon posset with toffee popcorn to pistachio and dark chocolate macaroon, followed by delicious plain or sultana scones with clotted cream and a choice of homemade jams.

The menu has a great selection of homemade preserves to accompany the cakes and fancies, sourced from Pant Glas Bach Preserves, a smallholding in Axton, Flintshire.

Pant Glas Bach is an award-winning artisan producer of home-made quality preserves, including chutneys, jams, pickles, curds and marmalades.

The Great Wirral Afternoon Tea offers a wide selection of seventeen Pant Glas Bach jams and curds all lovely made with free range eggs from their own hens.

Some of the innovative tasty flavour combinations include apricot amaretto, rhubarb and ginger and blackberry and apple.

David Gillmore said: “We are delighted to have launched our luxury Great Wirral Afternoon Tea package offering such a wide selection of treats in time for the festive season and we welcome guests to join us to kick of the Christmas period in style.”
