The Fox & Hounds

The Fox & Hounds, a traditional country pub nestled in the beautiful conservation village of Barnston.

The Fox & Hounds has stood the test of time, with a public house being recorded on the site since the 16th century.  For the majority of its life "the Fox" as we’re affectionately known, was a place for quenching one’s thirst after toiling in the local fields or travelling with your horse up and down the dale and through Barnston. In recent years however our customers tend to come from a little further afield and usually under the power of more than just the one horse. The pub retains much of its architectural features and charm from when it was rebuilt in 1911, still offering traditional separate lounge and bar areas. Our traditional bar offering something for those preferring to ‘rough it’, or for those looking for something a little more refined and quiet, our lounge area should suffice.

We stock a cracking range of local cask ales, lagers and ciders.  Our most popular pint pulled is the locally brewed ‘Trappers Hat’ from Brimstage, just over a mile away.  We have a great selection of over 60 malts and whiskies, together with a variety of gins, vodkas and rums.  We also have a carefully selected wine list along with a choice of soft and hot drinks.

Our hearty homemade menu is served seven days a week along with our popular Sunday roasts.  Wholesome pub classics make up much of our menu, with a number of seasonal and local specials for those looking for something a little different, and to finish an assortment of mouth-watering desserts.
