A record number of restaurants in Merseyside have been recognised by the respected Which Good Food Guide 2012, coming out soon.
Across Merseyside and Cheshire, 16 restaurants have been singled out for praise, with Fraiche in Oxton and Simon Radley at the Chester Grosvenor both in The Good Food Guide’s prestigious Top 50 Restaurants list.
Wirral restaurants receiving this prestigious accolade include Fraiche in Oxton, Da Piero in Irby, and The Collingwood in West Kirby.
Da Piero, run by husband and wife team, Piero and Dawn Di Bella and their son Alan, is described as “a place that generates real warmth and affection, not least because of its honesty and genuinely passionate approach to Italian cooking.” This is the 3rd year their restaurant has been named in the guide.
Wirral’s Michelin-starred restaurant Fraiche also returns to the guide, described as having “mind-boggling food and sense-tingling thrills”. The Oxton eaterie has been listed as number 20 of the best restaurants in the country – one of only two in the North West to make the top 20.

A first time mention in the guide for Aiden Byrne at The Collingwood gastropub (pictured below) in West Kirby, who has also achieved a relisting of his restaurant Church Green in Lymm.
