Wirral bakery serves up tasty Christmas treats

24th November 2011

From Liverpool Echo 'Taste' Feature

Enjoy a taste of Christmas with a festive season of events from award-winning Wirral bakeries Gorge’Us in Bebington and More Gorge'Us in Spital.

The two tea shops have a packed programme of tasty treats ahead.

It all starts on December 4, when owner Ceri Newton will be demonstrating her favourite recipes at the Port Sunlight Christmas Food Fayre at 2.30pm.

On December 9, the popular Gorge'Us After Dark evening at the Spital shop will take on a Christmas theme.

“It’s our monthly event for lovers of puddings, with six courses in all,” says Ceri.

“We’re also offering a festive afternoon tea from now until Christmas Eve, with all the usuals – finger sandwiches, cake, pastries and scones, but all with the special flavours of the season. Groups are using the shop in Spital for their work Christmas parties which is lovely.

The shops have also announced a programme of children’s baking parties – a hit with the youngsters, and with their parents when they take their yummy creations home. From January they will open for Sunday brunch from 10am-2pm.

“People wanted somewhere to go for a nice relaxed read of the papers and things like eggs benedict and french toast with crispy bacon and maple syrup, so we’re going to be open seven days a week.”
