La Paz launches local produce summer menu

La Paz restaurant in West Kirby is launching a delicious summer menu making use of the best local produce.

The modern British restaurant, which opened in 2006 and has always prided itself on using the freshest and wherever possible local ingredients.

The summer menu will feature produce from Wirral, Cheshire and around the North West.

Kevin Parry, chef and co-owner at the family run restaurant, said he hopes people will enjoy the locally sourced menu.

“We began planning the summer menu in February and visited many suppliers around the North West,” he said. “We change the menu six times a year and selected produce that will be in season and complement the style of La Paz. The menu will feature Wirral watercress & rocket, Wirral pigeon, Cheshire ham, Cheshire ice cream and even shrimps sourced from the North West. We like to cook with as much local produce as possible, as it not only tastes better but is helping the local economy.”

Mr Parry said the produce has really helped in shaping the menu at La Paz.

“You can come into the restaurant and eat three courses, each with a local connection,” he said. “For starter you could have herb buttered Claremont asparagus with Wirral watercress, poached hen’s egg and shaved parmesan. For your main, Cheshire pork loin with a sweet onion tartlet and juniper berry sauce. Finally, for dessert, rich hot chocolate fondant with fresh raspberries, raspberry dressing and Cheshire farm vanilla ice cream.”

Mr Parry added: “The inspiration for the dishes really comes from the produce. We want to highlight what is available locally and give people the chance to taste it.”

“My recommendation would be to try our delicious range of fish dishes, in particular our North West shrimp. We also recommend Wirral watercress and rocket from Peter Jones from Childer Thornton, a local supplier who we have been working with for more than two years.”
