Wirral Farmers’ Market Celebrates Tenth Anniversary

The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Alan Jennings will help celebrate the tenth anniversary of Wirral Farmers’ Market next month, on 10th July.

This hugely successful market’s milestone celebration, which is taking place during Wirral’s Year of Food, is also expected to be even bigger and better with a record number of visitors expected.

Anne Benson, Chair of the Wirral Farmers’ Market, said: “We are really proud of the market and its success during the last ten years. It will undoubtedly continue to go from strength to strength for years to come.”

Over the years the market has also generated more than £26,000 for local charities.

Wirral Farmers’ Market has also achieved national recognition. It was awarded the Best UK Farmers’ Market Award by the BBC Radio 4 The Food Programme and the BURA – British Urban Regeneration Award – Charitable Trust Award for community regeneration.

Many of the traders have also been present at the monthly market since the beginning including Lomber Hey Farm, Mary’s Homemade Cake, John Jones Farm, Harvies Pies, Mrs Bourne Cheshire Cheese and Beef Direct.

Next month’s market takes place from 9am until 1pm and will once again offer a wide variety of fantastic produce including olive oil, olives, seasonal vegetables, fish as well as pies, chutneys, beef, lamb, fantastic chocolates, cakes and fresh herbs.
