Enter now for the first Wirral Golf Classic

6th April 2010

Entries are now being taken for Wirral’s inaugural Golf Classic to be staged at some of the finest coastal courses in England this September.

The Wirral Golf Classic, a 72-hole Stableford competition for about 300 amateurs, takes place from September 13-17 and will see prize money worth more than £3,000 up for grabs.

The beautiful courses of Caldy, Heswall, Wallasey and the magnificent Royal Liverpool Golf Club, venue for the 2014 Open Championship, will host the five-day international event.

Juggy Landay, Wirral destination marketing manager, said: “Wirral is without doubt a paradise for golfers. All entrants will be able to play these magnificent courses on the coast of this stunning peninsula overlooking the Rivers Mersey and Dee.”

“The Wirral Golf Classic will give amateur golfers the chance to play, eat and stay in Wirral and to enjoy fantastic golf as well as award-winning restaurants during our Year of Food and to stay in the best quality accommodation.”

All competitors will play each of the four courses with one day’s rest of their choice. The main competition is an aggregate Stableford with prizes for the top 20 players over four rounds but there will also be daily competitions.

Players must be over 18 years of age with a maximum handicap of 24 for men and 36 for ladies. The maximum number of strokes given is 18 for men and 27 for ladies.

All golfers must also be a member of a recognised club, or affiliated to their country’s governing body. They must present a current handicap certificate on arrival.

To enter the Wirral Golf Classic costs just £199, which includes all green fees and an invitation to a variety of social events.
