2010 Explore Wirral’s Biodiversity Thurs 2nd Sept 10am – 12.30pm
Beat about the Bush The WCP Recording Group are running events to promote Wirral’s wildlife, but here is a chance to do some practical work to help your local creatures by helping to maintain the healthland on Caldy Hill. We will be spending the morning removing the non-native Rhododendrons from the heath. Booking essential.
Bidston Windmill Open Day Sat 4th Sept 10am – 12 noon The windmill will be open to visitors. There is a height restriction of 110cm (42 inches) people under this height will not be allowed up the windmill but can still take a look around the ground floor.
Hilbre Island Open Day Sat 4th Sept 11am – 4pm
Join the Friends of Hilbre on the main island where they will have the Grade II Listed Telegraph Station open and will have telescopes set up to watch the seals.
Leasowe Lighthouse Open Day Sun 5th Sept 12noon – 4pm Join the Friends of Leasowe Lighthouse and take a guided tour to the top of this Grade II Listed Building at the heart of the North Wirral Coastal Park (last tour starts at 3.30pm), £2 per adult and £1 per child (under 16).
2010 Explore Wirral’s Biodiversity Thurs 9th Sept 9am start Mud’n’Marsh Join the Rangers and members of the WCP Recording Group on Heswall Shore to catch the first of the returning winter visitors to the Dee mudflats. Redshank and Shelduck numbers will be rising and there’s always the chance of a scarce passage migrant or two popping up! No need to book, meet at Banks Road car park, Lower Heswall.
