Tourism Business of the Month

Wirral’s natural beauty, and that of the villages throughout the Peninsula is well known, and this month’s Tourism Business of the Month capitalises on the great beauty of the area. West Wirral Walks takes people on guided walks of, well, West Wirral….

The region is especially beautiful, with pretty villages like Thornton Hough and the stunning views across to North Wales along the coastline. Walks are suitable for people of all ages, and abilities, and range from one hour morning strolls to all-inclusive walking packages.

West Wirral Walks are available throughout the year, regardless of seasons, every Saturday and Sunday and throughout school holidays. Walks generally start in Thornton Hall, a picturesque medieval village, and continue throughout the local countryside and coastline. These particular walks will appeal to those who like virtually flat and stile free walking and are looking to start the day energised and rejuvenated.

They have recently introduced partnerships with local businesses – including restaurants, pubs and hotels and bed and breakfasts. The prices for the walks include refreshments at the half-way point (often Brimstage Hall Courtyard), and there are half-day packages which also include the cost of lunch at a magnificent 17th Century village pub The Wheatsheaf, Raby.

West Wirral Walks also have special family walks for adults and children (with refreshment stop (included in the price of the walk) of home-made biscuits, scones and ice creams), which goes over especially flat land and is very suitable for families looking for a day-out in Wirral. There are also special packages for adults only (including a pub lunch), and packages for people to bring their dogs for a walk (including dog chew on the refreshment stop!).

Throughout the Autumn and Winter months West Wirral Walks in association with Sheldrakes, Lower Heswall, are hosting guided walks from the restaurant every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, followed by either a winter supper or the famous Sunday carvery.

Also, working in association with Sheldrakes, West Wirral Walks are offering a special North Wales packages. Walkers meet in the morning at Sheldrakes, and are taken to North Wales where they will embark upon a guided walk to Moel Famau Country Park. This 3 hour walk takes in some of the region’s most stunning scenery and goes up into the mountains of a North Wales Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walkers are taken back to Sheldrakes, where they will enjoy a fantastic two-course meal and drink. This package is priced at £35 including all transport to and from Moel Famau from Sheldrakes, and two-course meal at Sheldrakes.

West Wirral Walks can also put together bespoke packages for businesses looking for activities for staff and large groupings. This can include the Walk and Stay option which includes some of Wirral's most fantastic accommodation.

What visitors thought of West Wirral Walks:

superb guided walk around the Thornton Hough area with the exceptionally knowledgable David Porter and our dog Izzie and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Would highly recommend to both visitors to the Wirral and locals who would like to find out more about the area in which they live. Can't wait to do another one!
