Lady Lever Art Gallery
The Lady Lever Art Gallery is a national treasure, in the delightful village of Port Sunlight, just waiting to be explored.
Opened by Lord William Hesketh Lever, in memory of his wife 1922, it houses his extensive collections of fine and decorative art from the mid-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries.
Outstanding furniture, the finest collection of Wedgwood jasperware in the UK, and world-famous works of art, including Pre-Raphaelite masterpieces can be found in this gallery. Featuring the work of Gainsborough, Stubbs, and Millais, and dramatic masterpieces by Constable and Turner, the sheer depth of fine and decorative art in the collection at Lady Lever Art Gallery is astounding.
During 2008 a new permanent display opened, "Lever the Collector", introducing Lever and how he built his collection and the gallery. There is also a special exhibition programme throughout the year; previous exhibitions have included Ten Drawings by Leonardo da Vinci from the Royal Collection, The Stuckists Punk Victorian and Masterpiece Watercolours.
For children there are dedicated activities throughout the year for children of all ages, including workshops and fun gallery trails.
Admission is free for all.
The gallery also houses a bistro-style cafe and excellent gift shop
