When Voirrey Branthwaite opened a small embroidery shop in the 12th century Crypt of Brimstage Hall in September 1983, she can surely have had no idea that it would develop into one of the largest and finest Centres in Britain, and that she would become Merseyside Business Woman of the Year.
The concept of a large out-of-town needlework Centre was quite unique in Britain and with an estimated 1/4 million visitors a year, in 1995 it was awarded a Special Mersey Tourism Award in recognition of the excellence of the Centre. In 1999 it was awarded Best Marketing Plan and in 2000 the North West Tourist Board Silver Award for Tourism Marketing.
Today, it is still at the forefront of the industry, renowned locally, nationally and even internationally for it's uniqueness, Voirrey Embroidery remains one of the finest needlework Centres in Britain as well as being a major tourist attraction. It holds a vast range of stock, hosts different monthly exhibitions and holds numerous needlework workshops throughout the year. Situated attractively in the heart of rural Wirral, in converted sandstone farm buildings, the Centre is only 1 mile from junction 4 of the M53.

Please note:
From Monday 8th March a section of the A5137 Brimstage Road, from the village of Brimstage to Junction 4 M53 (Clatterbridge roundabout) will be closed for up to six weeks for urgent road repairs. The village of Brimstage however, in particular the well known and popular Brimstage Hall Courtyard complex, home to 12 retail businesses, including the Voirrey Embroidery Centre, will still be at all times accessible and open to business as usual.
Diversion signs from Junction 4 of the M53 will divert traffic to Thornton Hough and Brimstage Hall Courtyard traffic can reach Brimstage via Manor Road and Talbot Avenue. Similarly traffic from West Wirral can reach Brimstage via Thornton Hough, Brimstage Road at Heswall and via Whitehouse Lane from Barnston, all usual routes. Businesses at Brimstage hope all their customers will continue to support them during this difficult period.
