Channel 4's George Clarke showcases Wirral's latest amazing space
15th November 2013
George Clarke's 'Amazing Spaces' on Channel 4 follows the build of Shore Cottage Studio a stunning coastal art space and new tourist attraction in Wirral.
Wirral artists Sue Barnes, Kris Heath and Laura Heath were filmed for George Clarke's Amazing Spaces show during the August build of Shore Cottage Studio; a new creative space in a unique setting on Thurstaston shore. George was enthusiastic about the finished art studio describing it as "Absolutely amazing! So calm and peaceful" he added "You should all be proud of what you've achieved."
The unusual build was meticulously planned around high tides and the migratory patterns of wading birds as every element had to be brought along the sand by a tractor and trailer. The construction itself took less than two weeks and the family soon set about transforming the newly finished shell into a working artists' studio.
Sue, Kris and Laura all run creative workshops from the studio as well as producing their own art works. Laura says of the space "The studio stands on the shore line and we wanted the interior to be just as inspiring as the view. Using recycled, natural materials wherever possible makes sure our guests feel nurtured and at ease."
The studio offers visitors time and space to be creative, the family hope to provide an inspirational coastal escape both for absolute beginners and for experienced artists looking to expand their practice. With more and more people searching for a short break where they can explore, experiment and create something unique for themselves, they may well be on to something.
Courses will run from January 2014, you can book a creative workshop in laser cutting, textiles, photography and more online at www.ShoreCottageStudio.com twenty four hours a day. Gift vouchers can also be bought online and emailed or printed off at home, great as a last minute gift.
