Royal Liverpool

 England's most historic club

Royal Liverpool is one of England's oldest and most historic golf clubs and has been the scene of many defining moments in British golf and it is pleased to announce that it will host The Open Championship in 2014.  It will be the 12th time the Hoylake links has hosted golf’s oldest Major, read more here.

The most recent Open came in the summer of 2006 when Tiger Woods lived up to his reputation as the world's No 1 golfer by winning the Championship by two shots.

It was also the scene of the first England and Scotland competition in 1902, the first Home International matches and the first transatlantic contest between Great Britain and Ireland versus the USA took place in 1921, which became the Walker Cup the following year.

Hoylake's Links were refreshed by architect Donald Steel as a part of the preparations for the 2006 Open. The Hoylake Links, despite the flat and gentle appearance, are very much among the toughest and most demanding tests of golf. In recent years, the course has been lengthened and upgraded to take on the twenty-first century technology and increasingly athletic big hitters. Its greens are traditionally in outstanding condition.
